A Photographers Life
A photographer takes pictures of people, places, objects, and events and tries to artistically capture and evoke a mood, feeling, or drama surrounding a particular subject. Photography is both an artistic and technical job with which one can present his or her technical proficiency as well as beautifully composed images.
For decades, Annie Leibovitz has artistically captured the icons of popular culture with her award-winning photography. Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life, 1990–2005 looks at 200 of these photos as well as those she has taken of her family and close friends, and thus views a full “photographer’s life.” As Leibovitz says: “I don’t have two lives. This is one life, and the personal pictures and the assignment work are all part of it."
"My photography is a reflection, which comes to life in action and leads to meditation. Spontaneity - the suspended moment - intervenes during action, in the viewfinder." - Abbas
I’ve been a photographer for a long, long time. I see the world in pictures and hear it in music. I’ve got an active imagination, lots of creative energy, and I’m passionate about my work. I’m a very serious professional, but I think photography should be fun, too!
Photography is a competitive profession. It is still possible, however, to earn a good salary and make a successful career as a photographer if you have the talent and dedication. Job statistics According to the government's Bureau of Labor Studies, photographers held around 130,000 jobs in 2002; of these, 50% were self-employed, many more than the average for all other occupations.

"In my view, a photographer is someone who photographs. Not someone who thinks about photographing, or who wants to photograph, but someone who does it, preferably day in and day out." - Frank Van Riper
